HER PRIORITIES
Lorraine on the Issues

SCHOOL SAFETY
Cultivating a climate of respect throughout the schools is important. Respect for teachers, administrators, and other students is needed. Holding students accountable for their behavior, and involving their parents, must be done. In Lorraine's experience, holding students accountable for their behavior is helpful for them. It demonstrates that adults care about them. It also teaches students to be responsible for their own behavior, helping them to grow up to be successful adults.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The low proficiency scores across the district in reading and math are very concerning. What our students need from us is to take a closer look at what is behind these low scores and make some changes. Not changes that will only put a bandage on the issues, but focusing on real solutions that will make real changes for all our students.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Lorraine respects the rights of parents to make decisions they deem best for their children. Parents need to know what is being taught and what is happening in the classroom. Allowing parents to visit their child’s classroom in an orderly and non-disruptive manner should be offered. Lorraine supports reviewing and approving curriculum that focuses on teaching the basics. She believes there is a need to be totally transparent on what is being taught in the school. Allowing for classroom visitation of school board members should be encouraged.
